MATTHEW Date A.D.58 - 68

The Book of Matthew explains to the Jewish Community that Jesus was The Son of David, The King of The Kingdom of Heaven.

MATTHEW means Gift of The Lord

The Book of Matthew documents prophecies from The Old Testament and presents Jesus as The King of The Jews, The Messiah. The Book of Matthew contains twenty-nine quotations from Old Testament prophecies that are fulfilled by Christ. The statements of Jesus are written by Matthew, disciple and Apostle who was previously an unpopular tax-collector for the Roman Empire. The purpose of Matthew's writing is to prove that Jesus was the long awaited Messiah, The King of Israel. Matthew records the virgin birth of Jesus, worshipping magi, Jesus' baptism, and the universal commission of Christ. The text contains a genealogy of the human lineage of Christ through Joseph, legal heir to the throne of David, but God's Word barred Solomon's line to rule, but not His mother's line.

The Book of Matthew gives The Kings' Name, King's Position, King's Announcement, Coronation, King's Law, The King's Men and The King's victory. The Book has five divisions modeled upon the first five book of Moses, but Matthew presents Jesus as greater than Moses. There are also five sets of Jesus' teachings.

The Book of Matthew is the first of five New Testament Gospels, which are also considered History Books containing teaching, parables, miracles, death and resurrection of Christ. It is also the fortieth Book of Scripture that begins the twenty-seven Books of The New Testament.

MAIN POINTS

MATTHEW 7:7,8
" ASK, AND YOU WILL BE GIVEN. SEEK, AND YOU WILL FIND. KNOCH AND THE DOOR WILL BE OPENED FOR EVERONE WHO ASKS, RECEIVES. ANYONE, WHO SEEKS, FINDS. IF YOU WILL KNOCK, THE DOOR WILL OPEN "

Prayer is fellowship with God through Jesus Christ. Prayer is vital for communication and worship to God. His People should never get weary of asking, seeking or knocking when bringing requests to God The Father. God wants His people to turn to Him in prayer, to bring their requests to Him as a Father. Believers are commanded to do so, to petition Him for spiritual gifts, guidance, forgiveness, mercy, grace, healing, blessings and needs. A person does receives answers to prayer, for The Father is very eager to give His children blessings and gifts of The Holy Spirit as they acknowledge Him as Their Father and depend upon Him. The Heavenly Father gives good gifts. Eternal Life is a gift that He has made available. Seek and know are words for prayer. Persistent petitioners get answers, and receive blessings from the throne of grace, which The Father is eager to give.

Jesus knows that earthly fathers want to give good things to their children, so how much more God, our Creator is eager to give things he has planned for His people to have. Always expect this of God The Father, for He loves His children. As believers trust in him He will give them contentment, and He will give them their hearts desires according to His Will, for He knows what is best and when the time is appropriate for them to receive. Qualities that lead to effective prayer are humility, obedience, righteousness, single-mindedness, and faith. Hindrances to prayer are insincerity, selfishness, unbelief, wrong inward attitudes to God and the wrong purposes of petition.

Jesus asks believers to be persistent in prayer with asking, seeking and our knocking. Everything that a believer needs spiritually has been promised to them. The blessings and provisions of God are available to every one of His children.

Jesus is The Messiah King, Son of David, Son of the Living God, Lion, Strength and Authority, The Promised One, Fulfiller the promise of prophets and The Law. Promised Saviour, Fulfiller of The Covenants.
