I AM was God's designation of Himself. Jesus claimed this title, referring to be God, stating to be the I AM (Yahweh The Lord). This prompted Jewish leaders to seek Jesus' life, and ultimately charged Him with this allegation, so they could be rid of Him. Jesus did identify Himself as God, no other human being has made the same claim, nor could give their life to atone for sin.
