HEBREWS Date A.D. 60-65

The Writer of the Book of Hebrews is not identifiable but was an intellectual Jewish Christian, and probably of the priestly tribe of Levi.

Hebrew originally means tent dweller, descendants of Abraham, the nation of Israel.

When the letter was written, Jerusalem and The Temple was still standing. The text was addressed to Jewish Christians who were knowledgeable with the Religious Ceremonial Laws of the Old Testament. The text encourages Jews who had lost everything, suffered persecution, excommunication and had forgotten their privileges in Christ. There are serious warnings given to those who have heard the Gospel that they respond obediently and not refuse the calling of God.

It is suitable knowledge for today's Christians who may be tempted to turn away from Christ for there is nothing to turn back to.

The Book of Hebrews reveals the absolute supremacy of Jesus Christ as God's full and final revelation. The prophecies and promises of God are fulfilled in The New Covenant with a unique priesthood; The Old Covenant is obsolete. The Law was a shadow of Christ to come.

The Church used the Book widely in A.D. 90. It is an excellent instruction book.

This universal book is also considered a History Book containing teaching. It is also the Nineteenth of twenty-seven Books of The New Testament.

Jesus Christ is the ultimate and total sufficiency of the revealer and middleman of God's grace, His undeserved gift, merit, or favour. Jesus' sacrifice was for once only for all who accept this Gift from God. Christ is God, The Father's, full disclosure that He, Jesus His Son is The One and Only Mediator of The New Covenant. Christ is much more excellent than those or that which preceded Him. Superior to angels, greater than Moses, improved everlasting High Priest to which He was appointed by God The Father. The Lord Jesus Christ is greater than angels for angels worship Him and His excellent name. Jesus is Superior to prophets, and Aaron. He is God's Son, heir to all things, He created the world and is Himself God, and He upholds all things. He is able to cleanse the sins of believers. He is seated at the Right Hand of God. Only His Blood removes from God, our sin and frees our consciences and only through Him can we obtain God's mercy and forgiveness, and through no one else or by anything else. He is The Eternal God, His throne is forever. Jesus alone can give real rest.

Christians have a high priest is heaven, they can be confident.

Jesus is The Believer's Eternal High Priest, Mediator, Representative, God, Prophet, Priest and King, including The Author and Finisher of a Believer's Faith.
