JESUS CHRIST-THE
SON OF GOD-BOTH GOD AND MAN
His Deity and His Humanity
Jesus is unique. The One and Only, The Heaven-sent Son of God is The Only source of Eternal Life through Grace (undeserved Favour), He is The Word of God. Jesus has Eternal Life in Himself. He is Eternally Alive. The Lord Jesus, Son of The Living God, became man to meet the needs of human-kind. He gave up His life as His own chosen will to save people from their sins and from God's Wrath. He satisfied God's righteous holy standards. He is and always has been the Second Person of The Godhead who created the universe and all living things.
God's Word declares that Jesus, The Christ, is The Son of The Living God.
Jesus was born of a virgin, led a sinless
life, gave up His Own Life to make a sacrifice for sin for fallen mankind,
who have been separated from God, spiritually and physically. In one person,
Jesus The Christ there are two distinct natures, Divine and Human. Jesus
claims this of Himself while He taught His disciples. Many Scriptures portray
him as God and also point to His humanity. Jesus had a human birth and
human lineage from King David. He was the Son of David, His nationality
was Jewish. The Holy Spirit of God performed
a miracle in the womb of Mary.
Before Jesus was born He had appeared to men
as recorded in The Old Testament as 'The Angel of The Lord'. In the Old
Testament the preincarnate Christ pardoned sins, accepted worship, and
continued the same work while manifested in a body prepared for Him by
God, The Father. God, The Son already existed before He was born of Mary.
Mary was chosen because of human Royal lineage. Her ancestor being Nathan,
son of King David and brother of King Solomon. Joseph, Jesus' stepfather
legally was in the Royal line of the Throne of David, but was the lineage
cursed by God through the prophet Jeremiah, which involved the Babylonian
exile.
Jesus' conception was supernatural, for she
stayed a virgin till after the birth of Jesus. He later had an earthly
family of brothers and sisters who were the natural offspring from Mary
and Joseph. One brother was James, the first bishop of the Jerusalem church
and wrote the book after his name in The New Testament and Jude who also
wrote in the New Testament was Jesus' step-brother.
The union of Divine and human
nature made possible for the redemption of souls, salvation of spiritual
and physical death, from God's Wrath over the Adam nature, which was the
doubts that caused separation of man from God.
All humans were born in sin, but Jesus had to be born sinless.
To overcome physical and spiritual death and to reconcile man back to God,
The Father, God had to do away with the Adam sin nature, so God Himself
had to become man, after the flesh and conquer death, the work of the devil.
Christ had to be a human being to conquer the adversary and conquer death
by rising from the dead physically, to live forevermore. Jesus is Immanuel (God
with us).
Jesus
showed mankind God, The Father clearly and accurately. He now lives and
reigns as a resurrected person-The First of a New Creation-A Better Mediator
of a Better Covenant. In Christ is the perfection of God in human form,
there is Love, Justice, Mercy and Forgiveness, the personal presence of
God, the ultimate expression of Himself.
It is crucial to remember that the existence of The Son of God did not commence with His birth in Jerusalem. He is spoken of The Son of God before He became a man. Before anything was created He was "in the beginning".
In one person, Jesus, The Christ there are two distinct natures, Divine and human.
God dwelt temporarily among His people as the Perfect God/Man, just as God manifested His presence to His people in the tabernacle in the wilderness with Moses and Israel. He set aside His grandeur of glory, but not His deity.

In Christ is the perfection of God in human form, there is Love, Justice,
Mercy and Forgiveness, the personal presence of God, the ultimate expression

To know Jesus, and listen to what He has declared and expounded
about God, The Father, is to know as much as humans can know, what people
are capable of knowing until He shall be seen as He is, when He appears
at His Second Coming.
Jesus had Divine Names, Divine attributes and accomplished Divine
works. As Jesus, The Christ, Son of The Living God, He possessed qualities
of moral integrity and righteousness that set Him apart from all else.
He was unique in His birth, His person, His ministry, in His death, His
resurrection and in His ascension.
CHRIST IS GOD
He was God before He became flesh (human). God added to Himself
a human identity and human nature. Christ has always been the same, yesterday,
today and forever.
It is crucial to remember that
the existence of The Son of God did not commence with His birth in Jerusalem.
He is spoken of as The Son of God before He became a man. Before anything
was created He was “in the beginning”.
During His life, not at any time was
Jesus not God, nor at any time He was not man. He did surrender the independent
right of being God and became totally dependent upon God The Father. Testimonies
to The Son of God came from The Father Himself, from Jesus Himself, from
The Holy Spirit, from angels, believers, men and devils, The demon spirits
recognised Him on earth and do today as the Holy One of God. He accepted
worship from men and angels and He claimed equal Deity with God The Father.
He has always existed as The Son. Christ is the wisdom of God.
Christ has always been the second person of the Godhead.
Only God can forgive sins and Jesus
openly did this while He was on the earth, declaring Himself to The Divine
Title of “ I AM.”
“ I tell you the Truth”, Jesus answered, “Before Abraham was born, I AM.”
John 8:58
“And now Father, glorify
me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.”
John 17:5
For these statements, the Jewish leaders turned Him over to the Roman authorities to be crucified, as prophesied in Scripture.
Only through a virgin birth could Jesus be both God and Man and be able to make atonement for sin.
Christ is Self-existent, for He had
Life in Himself. Eternal life is in Himself; Jesus was and is God. Creation
is accredited to Christ in The Bible and as Sustainer of all, the Forgiver
of sins and He exercises judgement. He was anointed by The Holy Spirit
to preach to the poor, naturally and spiritually, to proclaim freedom to
those in bondage, both naturally and spiritually, to release those oppressed
and to give sight to the blind, also naturally and spiritually.
Colossians 1:15-20 “ Christ is the exact
likeness of the unseen God, He existed before God made anything at all,
and, in fact, Christ himself is the Creator who made everything in heaven
and earth, the things we can see and the things we can’t; the spirit world
with its kings and kingdoms, its rulers and authorities; all were made
by Christ for his own use and glory. He was before all else began and it
is his power that holds everything together. He is the Head of the body
made up of his people- that is, his Church - which he began; and he is
the Leader of all those who arise from the dead, so that he is first in
everything; for God wanted all of himself to be in his Son. It was through
what his Son did that God cleared a path for everything to come to him
- all things in heaven and on earth - for Christ’s death on the cross has
made peace with God for all by his blood.”
Mankind’s faith and hope can rest in Christ alone and in no other, because He ransomed sinners with His precious sinless lifeblood.
Jesus sent The Holy Spirit from The Father.
CHRIST WAS MAN
Jesus humbled
Himself to minister and to be a servant. This was not against His own will.
He chose to become flesh and to be obedient and become the Saviour of mankind.
The Love of The Godhead acted to redeem mankind. As a man, Jesus felt the
weariness of a human body, hunger, thirst, tiredness, sorrow and all emotions
and death. He did this to glorify God, the Father, and love for mankind.
He also fulfilled prophecies of the prophets and of the Law.
Jesus revealed The Father to
mankind.
Jesus had a soul, will and emotions.
He grew from a child into an adult, and had to learn to be obedient. He
experienced temptation from without. Jesus, as a human was tempted by Satan,
His adversary, but stood on the Scripture of God, always conquering His
own self-will by surrendering to The Father's will and plan for His life.
He was tempted in His spirit, soul and body. He was limited in His knowledge
as He was also limited to a single area while on earth. He did not respond
to sin. He was sinless, perfect and completely Holy. He was victorious
in overcoming death and obtained freedom from spiritual death and secured
for whosoever believes, a resurrected body and life for Eternity.
The resurrection of our own bodies was secured because He rose from the
dead physically, and He gained for us Life Eternal, not in ourselves, for
we are dependent upon God for our being.
To conquer spiritual and physical death, to be able to restore man to God,
He had to be a sinless human being ('of the flesh').
It is the body that dies because
of rebellious sin against God, which was also the cause of spiritual death,
being separated from God.
Jesus Christ has many
names, the same as God, The Father- The Alpha and Omega, The Same Yesterday,
Today and Forever- The Lord of Hosts-The First and The Last- The I Am-
Lord of Lords-King of Kings. Jehovah and Yahweh-Shepherd-Rock-Life-The
Word- The Lamb of God-The Tree of life-The Foundation-The Temple-The Strong
Tower- The Gift-The Mercy Seat-The True and Holy One-The Lord of Glory-King
David's Lord- and many, many more.
Jesus is called The Lord, throughout The New Testament which is Jehovah,
Yahweh. Jesus is not only God in Divine manifestation, but is the revealer
of God to mankind. He is also God in essence. His nature is God The Father's
nature and character.
God, for Christians is The One and Only God, (Triune) Godhead of the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit, The God of Abraham (Father), Isaac (Son) and Jacob
(Holy Spirit).
Jesus is The Object of
Saving Belief, and The Joint Source of Blessing. Jesus is The Saviour and
sacrifice promised in Genesis 3, He is the Seed of woman who destroyed
Satan. He is the One symbolised in the Laws of Moses, the suffering substitute
spoken of by the prophets. He is the one who died for the transgressions
of His created people. He came and provided all sacrificial needs on the
Cross. He is the pierced one over whom Israel will mourn and turn to forgiveness.
He fulfilled all righteousness by a perfect life and justice by His death.
In The Old Testament of The Bible when God
spoke to the prophets He is quoted, “The Lord God says,” and “Thus says
the Lord” but in The New Testament when Jesus spoke He said, “ I say to
you” and not “the Lord says unto you.” Christ’s superiority is recorded
by the fact of the way He spoke and taught with Supreme authority, showing
who He is and that even though He is worshipped by the angels, He is God
and is distinguishable from the Father.
Jesus also promised that
He would return to earth at an appointed time
set by God The Father.
JESUS IS STILL MAN TODAY IN HEAVEN
WITH A RESURRECTED SPIRITUAL/HUMAN BODY
