In the year 8 B.C. Zechariah, an elderly priest, from the Tribe of Levi, who was in the Temple carrying out the duties required, when the angel, Gabriel appeared and told him that he and his wife would conceive a son, even though Elizabeth, his wife was barren. Their son was to play an important role in God's Plan. He would be filled with The Holy Spirit and he was to be the one chosen to tell God's people that the long awaited Messiah was coming.
