Repentance is associated with belief and trust in the Truths of God and in His Son. Baptisms do not effect forgiveness of sin but is symbolised by baptism. Two gifts are given when there is a repentance and a turning to God, the forgiveness of sin which reconciles the penitent person back to God and the receiving of the promised Holy Spirit which has been promised to all believers. To obtain salvation, sin must be left behind and renounced by those seeking God's forgiveness, mercy and guidance. People must turn to Christ and depend upon Him. Many may yearn and hopefully give credence to just doing good, or by being spiritual with other belief will grant salvation, but God's word warns that only through Christ shall salvation come. The indwelling of The Holy Spirit is to be distinguished from the infilling of The Holy Spirit's ministry gifts, that equip believers for holy faithful work, which is also available to all believers.
