Science agrees with The Bible. The evidence of a life of a human after intercourse within 48 hours is clearly in the affirmative on both sides. All unborn life should be treated as sacred as infant life.
Scientifically there is no doubt that the beginning of a life is at conception that takes part in the first 48 hours after intercourse. That life being undoubtedly a human being. To deliberately take a life is murder, a violation of the Sixth Commandment.
Within 48 hours the sperm and ovum unite, at this stage the DNA code is already determining its independent existence. The fertilised egg then takes four to six days to settle in the womb to grow and continue on the life it had begun at fertilisation. By eight weeks all physical characteristics have developed.
The Bible tells us that
all are made in the image of God
and there are a few examples in The Word of God that tell us that a life
has begun and abortion should not be carried out.
God's Word records that anyone who has killed on purpose should receive capital punishment. This age of society is like many eras of society that have preceded it, an evil time that takes lightly the gift of human life. Human life has been made in the image of God, the Creator.
Arguments for abortion as a moral and individual
right don’t deny the humanity of the unborn but deny that a fetus is a
person. Their arguement is that if there is no personality or intelligence
or conciousness in the unborn, then there is no life. Christians believe
that life is a gift from God and The Bible points out “that life is in
the blood”. Science also confirms life is in the blood and that the life
blood of an unborn child is separate to the mothers. Ending life means
to disagree with God the value of another. People can not hide from God
behind the manmade laws or philosphies of a country.
LIFE IS IN THE BLOOD
GEN 9:1-7‘Life is in the blood”
God will demand a reckoning for lifeblood that is shed. ‘Whoever sheds
man’s blood. By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God, He
made man. And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; and bring forth abundantly
in the earth and multiply in it”.
GENESIS 4:10- God told Cain that the blood of his brother Abel has a voice,
“And he said “What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries
out to Me from the ground’
Abortion is challenging Divine Intentions and Authority, for another's life not just for this life, but life in eternity, God purposes life for eternity. Taking life usurps Divine Authority.
Conception begins life. Ending life means to disagree with God, the value of another's life. A female can not hide from God behind the man made laws of a country.
The Bible teaches that God is actively involved from the conception of a child in the development before birth, and He establishes a purpose for the life of the child before birth (but each has an own individual will of choice if born). Some cultures count the age of their child from the time of conception.
When pregnancy is interrupted by a premeditated manner it ends the life of the unborn baby, it is called abortion. Allowing authorityover human life into the hand of mankind over human life rather than leaving it in God's hands, is classed as murder which is therefore sin. There are consequences of ending a human life that results in judgement.
Women who have had abortions can be forgiven if the sin is confessed and mercy and forgiveness is asked.
The unborn child exhibits human qualities of the Adam nature and only human beings are conceived with the sin of mankind, from the Fall. The Bible shows that God can have powerful relationships with unborn children.
In the Old Testament under the Mosaic Law, parties who injured the 'fruit' of a pregnant woman were under the penalty of death, but could redeem their life with ransom money.
In Genesis 4:1 The Bible records that the first time Adam had sexual relations with His wife Eve, she conceived a child immediately. Job lamented about the night he was conceived, and there is the issue with David and Bathsheba.
The account most interesting of fetal life is recorded in New Testament of the Gospel of Luke 1, John the Baptist, a fetus of 6 months life, leaps for joy at the arrival of Jesus, who would have been 48 hours old, or no more than three or four days conceived. The Holy Spirit had come upon Mary and was in her when she went to her relatives in Judea, Elizabeth, being pregnant with John The Baptist, who also, because of the presence of The Holy Spirit, became full of The Spirit.
Luke 1:26 God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." 29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end." 34 "How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?" 35 The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. 37 For nothing is impossible with God." 38 "I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her.
Interview of Mary and Elizabeth
39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah's home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!"
Jesus Himself, arriving as a baby and not as an adult affirms the value of the unborn in the womb.
Many scriptures affirm the sanctity of life to the unborn, and God's care for that life while still in the womb. The unborn life is to be protected because the life is that of a child. God's wants both mother and the unborn child to be protected and cherished.
Joy is a personality trait and therefore this account Biblically confirms that emotions are present in the unborn, it also proves that there is consciousness and can even determine that abstract thought is present in the unborn. The fact the a 6 month unborn child recognised the life that was in Mary’s womb before Mary spoke of it, not only gives Biblical prove that personhood from God’s perspective begins at conception, but also that purpose for that child is divinely orchestrated. At this time, Jesus was conceived only 48 hours prior to this visit or no more than three or four days old. (depending upon the length of journey taken by Mary, however the Bible account says that Mary got ready and hurried to see her relatives) (LUKE 1:26-39). Human Life and Purpose begins at conception. Children are a gift from God.
CHILDREN ARE PRECIOUS AND ARE TO BE TREASURED
PSALM 127:3 - Behold, children are a hertiage
from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. GENESIS 33:5- ‘And
he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children and said “Who are these
with you?”. So he said “The children whom God has graciously given
your servant”.
GENESIS 48:8-9 Then Israel saw Joseph’s sons and said “Who are these?”
Joseph said to his father, “These are my sons whom God has given me
in this place.”
A woman who has had an abortion for whatever the reason, needs to know that Jesus' love and forgiveness is still available.
God has divine anger over the killing of the unborn throughout history, especially during wartime.
In the Old Testament there is a story of King David and his adultery with Bathsheba, both were married. Bathsheba's husband was away from home doing battle for King David against foreign foes. This action alone, put both of them under the death penalty according to The Seventh Commandment "The shalt not commit adultery".
Bathsheba informed King David of her pregnancy that resulted from their adultery. Getting rid of the evidence of their adultery, which would have been abortion did not enter their minds, instead David ordered Bathsheba's husband be put in the front of the battle making sure he was killed. The message to the army general was carried by the husband himself! The husband did get killed in battle as arranged, and King David married the new widow, she gave birth, but the baby did not live.
If The Word of God agreed with abortion surely King David would have arranged for this, abortion is not just new in this generation, unwanted fetuses have been killed from time immemorial.
King David wrote a Psalm of how God forms life. God knows all things- He is every where present-NIV
Of David. A psalm. For the director of music. 139:1 O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. 5 You hem me in--behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. 7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. 11 If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,(womb). 16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
David had a hatred for his sin and desired repentance and mercy and to be led aright.
People are not Sovereign
over life and should not
presume to be in any matter of divine authority.
People justify abortion by arguing that many children are unwanted because of various reasons, economics, pregnancies that result in deformation of the fetus, rape, incest or emotional instability, not suitable time for pregnancy, mother is too young or too old. These justifications are all self-motivated for convenience.
Christianity proclaims God to be the author of life and witness to the value of life even before birth.
ANTENATAL LIFE IS FULLY HUMAN
JEREMIAH 1:4-5 Before I formed you in
the womb I knew you; Before you born I sanctified you.
JOB 31:15 ‘Did not He who made me in the womb make them? Did not
the same One fashion us in the womb?’
PSALM 119:73 Your hands have made me and fashioned me, Give me understanding,
that I may learn Your commandments.
Christians believe that life is a gift from God, and when a person makes a mistake by choosing the wrong action in the first place (in this case, sexual intercourse usually before marriage), if they would stand with God on His principles, He would make a blessing come from that mistake. The best choice to make when given a second predicament (to have and keep, to abort, to adopt) is to confront the whole situation and not run from it.
Abortion is a choice to try to run from guilt and not face the responsibility of the action. Abortion is the result of making the wrong decision in the beginning, which leads to another wrong choice-two wrong choices. Those who stand with God see His forgiveness.
Abortion has been used throughout the centuries
to exterminate persons who are judged to be lower and of less importance,
less worthy of life than others. A fact that should be remembered, for
all are equal in the eyes of God, who loves and cares for all.
To love God is to obey God.
John 14:23-24. Jesus said “If anyone love me,
he will obey my teaching, My Father will love him and we will come
to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey
my teaching, these words you hear are not my own, they belong to the Father
who sent me.”
John 14:21“Whoever has my commands and obeys them he is the one who
loves me, He who loves me will be loved by My Father and I too will
love him and show mself to him” .
You cannot love Christ and not obey, because they cannot be separated from
the Love of the Father. There is a close relationship between love and
obedience and loving Jesus.
All people will give an account for what they have done in the body, whether it will be good or evil, there is no escaping God and the consequences for abortion can be devasting to the soul. The Bible teaches that it is better to suffer for good than for evil and encourages Christians to do right regardless for there is blessings in doing good. Abortion is self- inflicted suffering.
Abortion of a fetus is a crime of homicide. In the Old Testament it deserved severe punishment. Moral laws and principles are carried over into the New Testament. There is forgivness through repentance with balance of the Love, Forgiveness and Mercy of God, through Jesus Christ.
